How to write a cover letter that sounds like you
Most cover letters are skipped because they repeat the resume in formal language. A good one is short, specific to the job and written the way you'd speak to the hiring manager.
- 01
Keep it short
Aim for 250 to 400 words in three or four short paragraphs. Hiring managers read cover letters in seconds, so every sentence should earn its place.
- 02
Address a real person
Look for the hiring manager's name in the job posting, on the company's site or on LinkedIn. If you can't find one, "Dear Hiring Team" is better than "To whom it may concern".
- 03
Skip "I am writing to apply"
Open with the role and the strongest reason you fit it. The first two lines decide whether the rest gets read.
- 04
Match two achievements to their needs
Pick the two most important requirements in the job description and show, with one concrete result each, that you've done that work before.
- 05
Show you know the company
Mention something specific: a product, a recent launch or a value they talk about, and connect it to why you want this job rather than any job.
- 06
End with a clear next step
Close by saying you'd welcome a conversation, thank them, and proofread everything. Save it as a PDF named with your name, unless the posting asks for something else.

- Is the cover letter template free?
- Yes. Enter your name and email above and download it instantly. There's no card and no account needed.
- Do I still need a cover letter?
- Not for every job, but when a posting asks for one, or a role gets many applicants, a short and specific letter can set you apart. When it's optional and you're short on time, a strong tailored resume matters more.
- How long should a cover letter be?
- Usually 250 to 400 words, which fits on less than one page. Shorter is fine if every line is specific to the job.
- What do you do with my email?
- We keep it with your download request. We won't send you marketing emails unless you've opted in, and you can ask us to delete it any time at saad@jobzhub.com. Our privacy policy explains the rest.
